It’s safe to assume from now on all Fourth wing posts will contain spoilers and thoughts as they appear. This is my read along of thoughts… no editing, no coming back, no correcting mistakes. Raw and unfiltered. Please don’t hold this read along journal against me.
Notes on 5:
So battle strategy class? Can’t help but wonder if the faltering in the wards/mountain area is about to be a lovely bit of foreshadowing.
Violet didn’t fly under the radar at all like she was told to. Looks like Xaden might be a match of intelligence too. Forbidden/enemies to lovers vibes.
Jack is so insecure and gross. The worst kind.
Imogen the one who tries to kill her on the mat and settles for damaging the arm… girls got issues. Talk about misplaced anger.
What was this rebellion though? What was it about? Why?
Notes on 6:
Ok so Dain seems extremely keen his girl Friday goes off to be a scribe. But like, using an arm break and dislocation to do it? I doubt anyone would buy it anyway. He’s getting in the way a bit. Is he not supposed to be a good guy? Cos he doesn’t believe in her much.
The journal from her dead brother… chefs kiss. This girls gonna somehow survive almost anything with all the help being thrown her way.
Notes on 7:
Why is she getting stuff to poison people? Also what does she plan to do with it? Is it a small amount of pain or deadly as it comes?
Ok secret meetings of rebels set up as under dogs sent there on purpose to die trying to help themselves? Hmmmm. Very divergent.
These rebels really hate her mum. Should I be surprised that Xaden has said Violet is his to deal with not the rebels kids?
Oooo she told him she won’t tell about the secret illegal meeting… juicy.
Notes on 8:
Ooo Rhiannon and Tara sitting in a tree…
Is Dian’s name pronounced like Dean or does it rhyme with Bain?
Oh sneaky poison plan could be in action by taking on breakfast duties and finding out who she is paired against.
Dragon lessons !!! Less dragons willing to bond? Hmmm what do they know? Why aren’t they willing to bond?
Blue dragons sound fun. Oh so lots of blue dragons that don’t strictly follow the rules are in the mountains where the fighting is. Is this redirection or cause?
I’d be willing to bet dumbass Jack goes searching for that Morningstar tail dragon that’s super powerful. He seems the type to have that inflated ego.
So she won the challenge against puke boy by giving him food poisoning? Called it. I guess that’s why continuing the risky food tampering continues. Surely it will get noticed soon? She got cocky, sloppy even with that last timing, a shame because now that chapter ends with Xaden having to step in to the ring against her.
I look forward to reading that next chapter tomorrow.
Something I’ve noticed though, is that I’m not devouring this book whole. It’s making me think, making me want to ask questions and find out the answers but not hurtle and speed through it. It doesn’t feel like a single thing is there by accident or a throw away it feels consistently like it leads somewhere. It’s a fairly exciting feeling as a reader to enjoy.
