Hi, I am April Rose Appleby, aka A R Appleby. (Or ARA when I decide to sign off on some of the posts and forget on others)

Its been a long time since I have had to write an about me, so here we go.

I have moved over 600 miles from London, where I grew up. It has been the best decision I could have possibly made, not just for me but for my family.

We now live in Orkney which is absolutely gorgeous and wild.

Somehow I still have this website going after over 10 years of sporadic posting. Which I am sort of proud of myself for. This site has gone through all kinds of phases and at the moment it is where I am writing and keeping myself in the habit of writing.

I am currently working on a few projects and will be querying soon if all goes to plan (insert evil villain laughter here).

Other than that, I knit, I write, I am learning sourdough baking. My favourite pop group is still STEPS even though I am now officially a “grown up” whatever that is.

I am also a spoonie. Aka, chronically ill which often interferes with my writing, and to be honest my living too. Being a spoonie is something I have struggled with coming to terms with and been in denial for a number of years but I am finally beginning to accept some limitations and grant myself the grace I have needed especially with the adaptations I have integrated into daily life. Like all things in life there are good and bad days, but I don’t want to let it swallow me whole.
